The 170,000 square foot building is a model of remarkable technology, both in terms of the client’s installed equipment and the construction materials and techniques used. It is a completely automated freezer/cooler/blast freezer facility featuring warehouse placement and retrieval operated by unmanned cranes and conveyors. An ingenious freezer floor system uses twin tec metal pins in an 8” finish floor slab instead of traditional reinforcement bars. The slab is placed over 6 inches of rigid insulation, and a 6 inch reinforced concrete mud slab with a glycol heating system in the sub grade. The building has a 65 foot clear ceiling height. The freezer storage areas require some of the tightest tolerances and detailing of any type of building in existence.
